Hope — Light Through the Trees
There is a small group of trees in the park behind the Chiltern Lifestyle Centre in Amersham that I pass almost every day. Most mornings I’m focused on the routine ahead but I always glance at the trees and every now and then the light stops me in my tracks.
On one particular morning last summer, the sun was just breaking through the trees as I passed and it felt quietly powerful. I stopped to photograph the moment and that moment became Hope.
Working in soft pastel allowed me to really lean into the lights, highlighting the shadows beneath the trees and the sudden burst of sunlight at their centre. Light in woodland spaces has always fascinated me. It can feel enchanting but also fleeting.
The painting is being given away as a prize to anyone who donates to our Walk of Light fundraiser in support of Blood Cancer UK. This charity means a great deal to my husband and me, and this walk is our way of coming together to raise funds and awareness for research, support and hope for those affected by blood cancer.
It feels fitting that this piece should carry that message.
Hope has been beautifully and professionally framed by our friends at Emerald Frames, whose craftsmanship has really elevated the work and to whom the charity also holds a special place.
If you would like to be in with a chance of owning Hope, simply donate to our Walk of Light fundraiser. Every contribution, large or small, makes a difference and together we can help bring more light where it is most needed.
Prints of this piece are available in three sizes. 50% of profit from the sale of these prints will go to support Blood Cancer UK.
